Chapter 4 - The Founder of Gold & Sage Collective

Alis Dokakis is the founder of Gold & Sage Collective, where hair magic meets a curated experience. From a young age, Alis was instinctively drawn to the art of hair.

As a little girl, she would cut her dolls' hair, or even her sister's, fascinated by the transformation and the joy it brought. What started as playful curiosity soon became an expression of love. She remembers cutting her younger sister's hair, then her mother's, and combing her grandmother's. There was always something deeply fulfilling about making others feel beautiful. It came naturally to her, like a calling.

Though her heart knew its path early on, life asked her to take a detour. As a first-generation Greek American and daughter of immigrants, Alis followed her parents' dreams for her and went to college. They hoped to guide her toward a promising future, not realizing the best version of her was already forming, one with scissors in hand, standing behind a salon chair.

It wasn't until her early twenties that an opportunity to apprentice in hair fell into her lap. For Alis, the true magic of doing hair isn't just in the artistry. It's in witnessing how people light up when they begin to see their own beauty, especially women. After nearly 30 years behind the chair, Alis still finds joy in helping women rediscover their beauty. Her practice has since expanded to include holistic touches, essential oil treatments, calming rituals, and guided meditations. She is currently pursuing certification in meditation and sound therapy, embracing vibrational healing as a powerful tool for release and renewal.

Looking ahead, Alis is in the early stages of developing her own line of essential oil-based face, body, and room mists, intentional products that reflect the peaceful, nurturing essence of Gold & Sage Collective. Alis's work is a beautiful blend of beauty, wellness, and soul, a practice rooted in care, artistry, and the quiet power of helping others embrace their true beauty inside and out.
